Black as a Neutral?

Black as a neutral?

Painting an entire room black?!

Yep, it can be done!.. read on to find out more!

White and creams are famously neutral colors, but black has a strong presence as a neutral tone as well.

While painting a room black may sound crazy and only for the daring, black-hued rooms feel sophisticated and moody, and can promote a sense of welcome and coziness.

Due to the tone of the dark walls, it’s harder to tell where walls and corners begin and end, creating  a sense of depth and endlessness in a space. Black rooms can feel bigger (yes, bigger!) and provide a different kind of blank canvas for artwork or gallery walls.

Unsure about painting a room black but love the idea of using black in your decor as a neutral? Incorporate it in textiles, furniture, drapes, and accessories. Adding back in neutral or light-colored furniture and textiles adds balance and contrast to a dark space. Much like whites and wood tones, black and wood tones go hand in hand and add a sense of depth and warmth to a room.
