Laundry Room Layout Ideas

Planning how to utilize and set up your laundry room space depends on the size of the room, your needs and functionality and your design style. Cabinetry is a great storage option and a beautiful and functional way to make a utilitarian space amazing! Here are some great cabinet ideas to choose from when planning how best to set up your laundry room.

Add tall, above appliance, cabinets for cleaning supplies.

Install upper cabinets for supplies like detergents, stain removers and fabric softeners. Taller cabinets can also hold brooms, ironing boards, hangers for hanging items to dry, and other laundry room essentials.

Use color! Paint cabinets a bold color and be playful.

This is an area of your home where you can make a big color statement and not worry about it like you would in a kitchen.

Use windowed cabinets.

These offer storage options but break up the ho-hum of solid cabinetry. It’s a great way to hide the items you don’t want to see, but also the advantage of a stylish storage option.

Stagger upper and lower cabinets.

This configuration offers storage over the washer and dryer, while lower cabinets hold a place for storage of laundry baskets and a counter space for folding.

Maximize a large laundry room with custom cabinets.

If you’re working with a large laundry space, consider custom cabinetry with lots of counter top space, floor to ceiling cabinets, a custom color palette and beautiful flooring and accents.

Think outside the box in a small laundry room.

If you have any open space in a smaller laundry room, consider installing small lower cabinets to hold baskets or other needed laundry essentials.

Hide your laundry room with cabinets.

If your laundry space is only a closet, consider installing built-in cabinets to conceal the washer and dryer to have it look more like built-in cabinetry, than a regular closet. This will conceal the space and maintain a custom look for your home.

Place a cabinet in a corner.

If possible put cabinetry on an opposite wall to accommodate difficult or awkward layouts.

Go with two-toned laundry room cabinets.

A great way to try something new! Two-toned cabinets offer variety and visual impact when you walk in the space. As there is usually less cabinetry in a laundry room, it’s easy and inexpensive to change the look with paint.

Using kitchen cabinets in a laundry room?!…

Yes you can! Your favorite home improvement store often sells standard cabinetry for kitchens, which can also be used for laundry rooms. The key is to measure your laundry room space, plan a layout that will work best for you and buy accordingly. Customize them by painting and adding your own hardware.
